Privacy Policy

Scrapped · Last updated August 11, 2026

Scrapped does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party services.

Photos and camera

Scrapped uses your camera, and optionally your photo library, to identify which disposal bin an item belongs in.

Image processing happens entirely on your device. The app runs a machine learning model locally to classify the material in the photo. Photos are held in memory only long enough to produce a result and are not saved by the app, not uploaded, and not shared with anyone.

Camera and photo library access are requested only when you use those features, and can be revoked at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Network access

Scrapped makes no network requests. The app functions fully offline. The classification model is bundled inside the app itself and is never downloaded or updated over a network.

Data stored on your device

Scrapped saves a small amount of information locally on your device, such as your selected city and display preferences. This stays on your device, is not transmitted anywhere, and is deleted when you delete the app.

Children

Scrapped collects no information from anyone, including children under 13.

Accuracy

Scrapped provides guidance, not authoritative determinations. Disposal rules vary by city and by the condition of an item, and the app can be wrong. For official rules, check with your local waste utility. Where the app cannot determine disposal from an image alone, it will say so rather than guess.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date.
